"Domnișoara Christina" is a cinematic interpretation of Mircea Eliade's famous short story, "Miss Christina," bringing its eerie atmosphere and complex themes to the screen. The film follows the arrival of Moscu and his girlfriend, Sanda, at a family mansion, a place steeped in history and shadowed by a tragic past.
Upon their arrival, they discover that the entire family holds a peculiar reverence for Miss Christina, Sanda's aunt. Her untimely death at the young age of 20, amidst the turbulent backdrop of the 1907 riots, remains shrouded in mystery and speculation, casting a long shadow over the family's present.
Adding to the unsettling atmosphere is the presence of Egor Paşchievici, a young artist who becomes strangely captivated by a portrait of Miss Christina. This fascination triggers a series of vivid dreams, blurring the lines between the real and the imagined.
As Egor delves deeper into the mystery of Miss Christina, the line between dreams and reality becomes increasingly indistinct. Through occult practices, seemingly facilitated by her own family, Miss Christina is resurrected, fueled by her affection for Egor.
This resurrection, however, comes with a sinister price. As the ghostly Miss Christina gains strength, the lives of those around her are put in danger. Egor and Sanda, realizing the gravity of the situation, must confront the supernatural threat that has been unleashed.
Ultimately, the film centers on Egor and Sanda's fight against the resurrected spirit of Miss Christina. With life and death at stake, they are driven to confront the haunting figure of Miss Christina and seek a way to restore balance to the mansion and protect the living from the vengeful spirit.
