"Striking Distance" centers around Tom Hardy, a police officer with a lineage deeply rooted in law enforcement. Tragedy strikes when his father is murdered, setting off a chain of events that pit him against his own uncle, another officer on the force. Tom becomes convinced that a fellow cop is responsible for the crime and, fueled by grief and a desire for justice, makes his accusations public.
This bold move backfires spectacularly, leading to his demotion from a prestigious detective position to the less glamorous role of patrolling the city's waterways. Essentially, he's relegated to the "river patrol."
Partnered with Jo Christman, a new face on the force, Tom begins navigating the intricate network of Pittsburgh's three rivers. Their duty is to patrol the waterways of the city. However, routine patrols soon take a dark turn as they stumble upon a series of bodies, each discovery hinting at a more sinister plot at play.
The case takes on a deeply personal dimension when the victims are revealed to be women with whom Tom has a connection. This close association casts a shadow of suspicion upon him, making him a prime suspect in the eyes of his colleagues and the public.
Now under intense scrutiny and desperate to clear his name, Tom embarks on a relentless quest to unmask the true killer. The pressure mounts as he races against time to uncover the evidence that will prove his innocence and expose the dark secrets lurking within the police department.
